About Me

I currently reside in North Carolina and am enrolled in the MM Composition program at Appalachian State University. I am also a Tui St. George Tucker Fellow for the Hayes School of Music. My harmonic language is generally tonal/modal and my melodies tend to be lyrical in nature. I have written for large and small chamber ensembles, orchestra, and solo instruments. In 2021, I was a finalist in the AMEA Composition Competition for my piece Nocturne for Horn and Piano. In 2022, I participated in the Brevard Summer Music Festival Composition Program where two of my pieces, “I Am Not Yours” and Numeralis were premiered. I have experience as an educator teaching private brass and music theory lessons and I currently serve as a graduate coordinator for the Learning, Research and Technology Lab for the Hayes School of Music helping to mentor those who are interested in teaching musical topics such as theory, aural skills, and music history. My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor’s in Music Education from Troy University. While enrolled at Troy, I studied composition with Traci Mendel. Currently I study with Roger Zare at Appalachian State.
