About Me

I am a composer/educator currently residing in North Carolina and am enrolled in the MM Composition program at Appalachian State University. Within the Hayes School of music, I work as a Tui St. George Tucker Fellow and a graduate assistant for the Lab for Learning, Research, and Technology. My harmonic language is generally tonal/modal and my melodies tend to be lyrical in nature. I have written for large and small chamber ensembles, wind ensemble, and solo instruments. In 2021, I was a finalist in the AMEA Composition Competition for my piece Nocturne for Horn and Piano. Since then I have had the opportunity to write for several professional ensembles including Dal Niente, the International Contemporary Ensemble, and Hub New Music. I’ve attended summer institutes such as the Brevard Music Festival and the Walden School Creative Musicians Retreat. As an educator, I am often teaching private brass and composition lessons as well as helping to mentor those who are interested in teaching musical topics such as theory, aural skills, and music history through the LRT Lab. My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor’s in Music Education from Troy University. While enrolled at Troy, I studied composition with Traci Mendel. Currently I study with Nicholas Cline at Appalachian State University
